Project Description

At the time of installation the Static VAR Compensator installed was the largest in Ontario.

The installation was be strategically located within the existing 500-kV Porcupine Station in Timmins, Ontario, which is part of the main transmission network that connects the generation plants located in Northern Ontario to the population centers in the south of the province.

This new installation will improve the performance and stability of the network in this region.

Tom Jones Corporation completed the Civil works underground drainage excavation backfill and concrete foundations and construction of the SVC Building to house equipment.
